More Finishes and I'm Giving Up!

Christmas In My Heart

Finished and framed! I bought this frame about 2 years ago at a neighbor's garage sale.  It was framing two cross-stitched mallard ducks from the 60's or 70's.  So I took out the ducks and the glass and had DH paint it satin black and voila! It was perfect for this project :)

New baby quilt top all finished!  Not quilted yet.  But I am going to try and do it myself. Sorry for the dark pic.

Block 3 of A Wooly Good Year by Wooden Spool Designs

Here is LHN's 2013 Mystery.  Part 1 is completed.  I have the final 2 parts to the mystery  and the threads but have completely lost interest in it.  It has just been sitting around until  recently.  I saw on someone's blog (can't remember whose) that they also had lost interest and sold their unfinished piece.  I offered mine to DD#1 and she took it.  I'll keep you posted on her progress.

Should I feel guilty about giving up on this one?

I have been finishing up ornaments for this year's Christmas exchanges.  Still waiting for one to come back from the finisher.  If it looks too good, I might have to keep it :)

  1. You know, I think if you are not interested in a project it is best to move on - you made the right decision. Love all of your other stitching.

  2. I am uninterested too - not as cute as I had expected - but I will finish it because of the cost! Love your new to you frame! Quilt is pretty!

  3. Hi Teresa, I am the one that sold the LHN kit on my blog, I just totally lost interest in it too. When I saw the completed project in full it just was not to my taste and I couldn't imagine it framed up on my wall. Sometimes tastes change like that.
I wish I had bought the LK Mystery one instead!

  4. If you're not enjoying it, it's simply not worth your time. Better to let it go than have it kill your interest in stitching for awhile!

  5. I love that finish because I love the saying of course, also wonderful stitching. No, you should not feel guilty. There are so many wonderful designs, why waste time working on one you are not enjoying !

  6. Great job on your framing. It suits it perfectly. Beautiful quilt and applique too! I always feel guilty about leaving behind something I started stitching, but then I tuck it away out of sight and I forget about it!

  9. Your Christmas piece looks so loevly in its frame. And that baby quilt top is just gorgeous.
I'm so curious to see more of these Wooly Good Year blocks. This one is fantastic.
Never feel guilty about a piece that you put aside because you don't like it any longer. As Gracie says - you should do it for pleasure.

  11. It's great that you have someone to give those projects you've lost interest in. I don't think it's worth keeping something you just aren't into anymore. I love all your projects! Quilt looks great, Framed piece is beautiful, Love those daffodils!

  12. Teresa - Don't feel guilty about giving up. I felt the same way about "With thy Needle & Thread's" 2011 Mystery Sampler - Birds of A Feather. It languished for a couple of years in my WIP box before I finally forced myself to finish it just this Sunday. I felt obligated since I spent almost $90us for materials and charts. I think I'll set up a page on my blog to sell the charts and WDW over dyed floss that I have left over. Thanks for the idea. Your other finishes and framing look lovely.

  13. Lovely finishes, and no, I don't think it was bad of you to give up on that project - especially with someone else willing to take over :-)

  16. I've put projects aside recently too....life is too short to keep stitching on something that isn't fun to me! Love all of your projects!

  17. What a sweet finish and the frame is perfect!
I love the baby quilt :) My mother-in-law quilts by hand and her frame is in her basement. She told me the other day that she loaded her "winter" stitch on her frame. She's a beautiful quilter and I can't wait to see what she's doing this winter when we go to visit at Christmas!
No guilt, I recently tore through my WIPS and cut up and threw away many that I had lost interest in.

  18. Your framed piece looks gorgeous! I always think that if you're not enjoying a piece, it's best to pass it on to someone who will :)
    Best wishes.

  19. Wow! I just read Vonna's comment about cutting up her WIP's she didn't like! I toss them every now and then, because if I no longer like them... why bother! I often give the charts to someone who WILL enjoy stitching them, like you did! Nice finishes there! If only I had more free time! So much to do... Hugs!
