Passing Stitching on to the Next Generation

Here is a photo of our stitching day on Saturday. It is at DD#3's home. The only "older" person there was me. Everyone else here was 30 or younger. Front row-(l to r)-Amy, DD#1, DD#3, and Susan. Back row-Laura and me. Everyone was cross-stitching or knitting or both. DD#2 was missing on Saturday, but she is quite the experienced stitcher, too.

I had quite a time trying to find something I could see to stitch on without my lighted magnifier. I finally chose BBD Hedgerow Birds as the fabric is 20 ct, it was a January challenge project, AND I sat under the dining room lights. :) Thanks for hosting, DD#3!

  2. That looks like it was a lot of fun and I think it's wonderful to pass the craft down to the next generation. Sometimes I think they get caught up in all the technology of gadgets and don't learn the simple pleasure of creating!

  6. Awesome! I hate the image of stitching as being an 'old lady' thing to do. I started in college, but had a girlfriend who stitched from childhood and another of our friends used to tease her when she wanted to stay home and work on a project. Go figure, some people just don't get it.
