I'm a Giveaway Winner!

Many, many thanks to Carolyn for the wonderful box of finishing supplies that I won on her blog! She cleaned out of her house and sent me a boxful of wonderful trims, tins, and more! I am overwhelmed and grateful! Most of all I am loving the Altoids tins. I don't have a single one and there is enough to keep me satisfied for a long time.

Thanks again, Carolyn for your generosity! (Don't miss out on the giveaway that Carolyn has posted about on her blog by 1Choice4Quilting!)

Mary Glover Update

I hope all of you had a peaceful and blessed Easter weekend.

I am finally caught up on Mary Glover! Of course, the new assignment is due anyday, so I won't be caught up for long :) The top of the sampler is finished. The bottom of the sampler is a rice stitch design and I think it turned out beautifully. The rest of the the sampler appears to be cross stitch and should do up quickly. I hope my next update will be a finish!

Edit: Thanks to Anne Marie for pointing out that I need to put a link to the Mary Glover SAL in this post. Click here.

I am off to my annual stitching retreat on Thursday. It is held at a retired Naval facility on the Pacific coast. The backyard of the home we stay in literally sits on the Pacific ocean. Here is a picture of our backyard from last year. That is a sport court in the backyard.

Our coast is wet and cold in April. Hopefully I will be inside with my head down stitching most of the time and won't notice it!

Another Finish-Finish!

Blackbird Designs
Summer House Pincushion
30 ct R & R French Vanilla
Crescent Colours Shamrock and Secondhand Rose

Here is a Crazy January Challenge finish-finish!

I noticed lately that I have to copy and enlarge many of the charts I use. Yes, it's nice to be able to write on them or color in hard to see areas--but my enlargements are 20-30%!

I'm also having trouble with the spacing here on blogger. When I compose the words are single-spaced, but when I preview they are double-spaced. I check the html but can't seem to fix it. Any ideas?

March Make & Take & 2 Finish-Finishes from 2009

Here is the project from the March Make & Take class at my local quilt store. I missed this class, but picked up the pattern at April's Make & Take. It turned out pretty cute! Remember, I am not a quilter! This is the first project that I used crushed walnut shells for the stuffing. It is pleasantly heavy.

18 ct white mono canvas

Called for DMC threads

It is a little embarrassing to admit that this little Easter project was completed in 2009 and sat in a box under my bed until last week. I used some adorable chenille rick-rack.

The Sampler Girl-First Lady Sampler Series

Hannah's Spot Motif Sampler (Hannah Van Buren)

White 22 ct Congress cloth

Misc silk threads

This is another one that was sitting under my bed. I could not decide on the fabric to finish her. So I finally pulled out my patriotic fabrics and thought the blue with gold stars suited her. Yes, I admit that I used the continental stitch and did not cross any X's :) This is my first stitched needlebook finish. Here is the inside-

Jardin Prive Sampler aux Bouquets

Jardin Prive
Sampler aux Bouquets
35 ct natural linen
Custom DMC threads

I really like this design and think I am mostly keeping up with it-whew! There is another color change to report-the pink looked a little too close to bubble gum for me so DMC 3789 is the new color.

Click to see it better--the lines underneath the sampler are not threads. They are lines on my ironing board cover :)

I had a finish-finishing day on Wednesday,so I am close to sharing a few more items. And I am liking this Friday update so it might become a regular blog feature.

Have a great weekend!

Make and Take Class

This adorable pincushion came from ebay. The seller is primpenny.

This is the result of the Make and Take class I went to on Saturday at my LQS. It is a wool tomato needlebook. It is my first completed effort at this type of handwork. And I think it has given me the confidence to go finish the needle roll I started in February.

BBD Mystery Sampler Update

I couldn't let this weekend start without an update. There has been stitching going on, but only on this design. For some reason, I couldn't put it down. Part 3 is finished. Please forgive my poor ironing and photo skills.

I made one substitution-I couldn't find the GAST Basil and wondered if it was supposed to be the WDW Basil?? The WDW Basil sure looked like the thread in the photo on the pattern cover. It is a purple/grey overdye. Well, my skein of WDW Basil was 2/3 grey and 1/3 purple. And the grapes needed more purple! So I used WDW Purple Majesty-wow! that is purple!

And I have neglected to put eyes in the blackbirds yet. I will revisit them at the end of the project. They might stay blank or not?? We'll see.

It would have been nice to make some headway on the Mary Glover SAL and the Jardin Prive SAL, but this one is part of the Crazy January Challenge. :)

I am going to another Make and Take class at my local quilt shop tomorrow. It is a mystery class! I'll keep you posted! Have a great weekend!
