Stitching Being Passed on to Younger Generations!

We had a stitching day last Saturday at my DD#1 house. Here she is helping her son put a few stitches in my Kelly Clark angel ornament. It is a 13 ct canvas, so the holes are nice and big. He did a great job!
Here is the rest of our little group. DD#2 on the far left is starting a Christmas stocking in counted cross stitch. Her friend, Janelle, in the corner, is working on a crochet project. Next is me with my Kelly Clark ornament rescued from my grandson. And DD#1 is working an adorable Victorian home scene in counted cross stitch. We watched Judge Judy on DVR, then Steel Magnolias. A fun time was had by all! Thanks for hosting, Les!

Stash and Stitching Update

Here is my latest stitchy finish-My Needle and My Floss by Waxing Moon Designs. My pile of stitching projects that need to be "finish-finished" is growing! See below-

I have two ornaments I can share-first is my very first Blackbird Designs stocking (and definitely not my last!)-Deer in the Meadow (December pamphlet). I am not normally a "primitive" style person, but this one was too cute to pass up.

And this design was a freebie-but I didn't write down where I got it. I think it its LHN and I wrote down Christmas Girl on it, but I don't think that is the correct name-does anyone know more than this?

I didn't get to go to the Shepherd's Bush retreat in Utah :( (I have been reading the blog posts about it and am really sorry that I missed all the fun) But I did pick up 3 fat quarter packs at JoAnn's. Two are fall designs and one is Americana--uh, huh getting ready to do some "finish-finishing" !

Knitting Update

Here is knitting project #2-my second scarf. This one was barely started when DH and my dear grandson both told me that they liked this one better than my first scarf :) No fringe this time and the yarn is softer, too!
Here is knitting project #3-a winter hat. Thank you to my wonderful model, Brandon, for showing off this tweedy project. It turned out great! But my daughters tell me that it is too "girly" for DH. Boys don't like buttons :(

Here is the beginning of project #4-I am making socks!! I am so excited. Yes, double-ended needles and everything--lessons start tomorrow!

Finally Another Post!

Small Token
Blackbird Designs
Crescent Colors and DMC floss
32 ct Belfast Linen-Country Cream (?)
Yes, I have really been stitching-all kinds of stitching! Here is the latest cross stitch finish-I have seen this one on many blogs and just loved it everytime. I did substitute some GAST Blue Dungarees for the bird. I didn't have the correct Crescent Colors in my stash and didn't care for the DMC conversion colors. Also, pink is my favorite color-so any design with pink works!

I am busy with Christmas stitching already. I like to make an ornament for each of my 3 daughters. Plus one for my guild ornament exchange. Plus one for my first organized exchange thru JAT. Plus 2 personal exchanges I am doing. Plus, I would like to do a couple for myself. That makes 9 ornaments so far. Once I get these done I will get back to my larger projects.

Here is some more stitching I have been doing. It is my second attempt at a scarf. DH and grandson are already admiring it and saying they like it better than my first one. :) I got the yarn on sale at JoAnn's.

Now here is my first attempt at magic loop knitting. It is a hat-well, right now, it is the beginning of a hat! I have stopped after my first loop to take it to the yarn shop and make sure I am on the right track before going further. And I have already signed up for my first sock class! I will keep you posted!

First Knitting Project Finished!

Here is my first knitting project all finished! It is a long scarf-67 inches. I see that the fringe is looking a bit rough and needs to be trimmed, but altogether I am so pleased with it. It is a simple knit 2, purl 2 design that makes a ribbed effect. My technique and tension improved greatly from the beginning to the end. And I have enough yarn leftover to knit a matching hat.

Thanks to Liz at Renaissance Yarn for all her help and encouragement-click here to visit Renaissance Yarn. I have already signed up for Knitting 102-Hat.

Two Pat Mazu Mini Stockings Finished

Christmas mini-stockings
Pat Mazu
White 18 ct canvas
Watercolours and Metallic threads

Two more ornaments finished! These are the Christmas in July ornaments stitched with my local EGA guild. The purple one is this years--the red/green/multi is last years project. I stitched three last year and gave them to my daughters for Christmas. So this year I stitched 2 for my tree. I love counted canvaswork!

2010 Jardin Prive Christmas Finish

Christmas
Jardin Prive
32 ct mystery fabric
Called-for DMC floss
I finished Jardin Prive's Christmas over the Labor Day weekend. There is a change on the bottom row. I left off Christmas in another language (Japanese or Hebrew-not sure which) and added German "Weihnachten."

I had a 50% off coupon at JoAnn's AND a 20% off the entire purchase (including sale and clearance items). So I spent an hour there yesterday and came away with more yarn for my new knitting habit. :)

I spent several hours yesterday re-organizing & cleaning out my stitchy space. If I let it go too long, then things really pile up and I can't seem to think straight. I'll post a picture soon.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Stitchy Update

I took my first knitting class this weekend! All the wonderful knitting on the blogs I follow was inspiring me to learn how to do this. Don't laugh-here is my first project-a scarf. It is not done by a long shot, but you can still see how it is going. I am getting faster and my tension is getting better. Here is my grandson modeling it below:

Here is the September installment of Sylvia's SAL. This series is too cute! Click here for Sylvia's blog.
Here is the ANG Stitch of the Month. I finished August and most of September. There is still some couching to be done. But I thought it was worth a picture anyway.

2009 Christmas Finish

Christmas stocking Variation
BH & G Christmas Cross Stitch Heartfelt Holidays book
DMC floss and misc stash beads

Here is DH's Christmas stocking. We have been using plain red felt stocking since we were married. Last year I decided it was time to upgrade our stockings. (I am still picking a design for mine--everytime I think I have decided, I change my mind :)

Let me know your favorite stocking designs. I need to make up my mind soon if I want it ready for NEXT year! :)
